ImageNamibia coach Ari Schans has resigned from his post after three successive defeats in World Cup qualifiers this month, officials confirmed on Friday.
Schans left his post after Sunday’s 4-0 defeat in Guinea, which effectively ended Namibia’s chances of progress in the qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup finals in neighbouring South Africa.

The 56-year-old coach said he had quit after the Namibia Football Association said it had lost confidence in his ability to coach the team.

“I didn’t think there was any point in continuing to work for them then,” Schans told reporters.

He took over as Namibia coach last December and had just six weeks to prepare a team for the MTN African Cup of Nations finals, where the country were eliminated in the first round.
